Mike Kennealy, new secretary of Housing and Economic Development, tours Ludlow Mills project

LUDLOW — The ongoing $138.7 million redevelopment of the 1.1-million-square-foot Ludlow Mills complex needs federal and state money to move forward — and developers would like to have that money a little more quickly.

That was their message Wednesday to Mike Kennealy, the state’s new secretary of housing and economic development, who kicked off a day in Western Massachusetts with a tour of the Ludlow Mills project.
