Westmass executes development projects ranging from business park development to the adaptive reuse of historic buildings to the remediation of challenged industrial sites.
Projects are completed through a variety of methods, including acquisition and public-private partnerships, while applying our expertise in the financial planning and implementation stages. Westmass also manage complicated financial negotiations involving different federal, state and local funding sources to bring projects to a successful outcome.
The University Business Park, which totals 78 acres, is located on N. Maple Street in Hadley, and was acquired by Westmass in 1987. Formerly agricultural land and meadows, Westmass built a new access road, Venture Way, and associated utilities and infrastructure in 1996. The Park is located within a mile of the University of Massachusetts/Amherst flagship campus and is now home to eight companies including satellite offices of the University. The Park also includes National Evaluation Systems, Inc. office headquarters, one of the area’s largest private employers, and a two-story 55,000 square foot multi-tenant office building. Westmass retained Development Restrictions on the park properties throughout sale and construction in order to augment local zoning to ensure quality development. The last parcel in this park was sold in 2019.
